West Bridgewater Police recently launched an enforcement operation against texting and driving. WBPD warned of the effort in advance via Facebook, then conducted an enforcement at peak traffic time on a heavily traveled road. Although the Facebook post had over 25,000 views, WBPD still stopped 78 motorists and issued multiple citations.
West Bridgewater PD’s main goal of this operation was education. They reported an outpouring of support from residents, even during the operation with horn honking and someone made an #itcanwait poster. WBPD officers hope that this campaign educated drivers and prevented tragedy from occurring. For more info, contact WBPD or search terms #itcanwait for more information.
Great job WBPD on helping to educate and combat this important issue.
